Growing up in Ogden, Utah, Thaddaeus had always known about the Clearfield Job Corps Center but never understood the impact of the program until he experienced it himself. Before joining Job Corps at the age of 22, Thaddaeus held down a variety of odd jobs: a teacher’s assistant, customer service representative at Home Depot and finally a caretaker for an elderly veteran. It was this caretaker role that spurred his interest in helping people and inspired him to pursue the Advanced Emergency Management training program at Job Corps.

But what helped her stay, graduate and go on to a successful career was her drive and passion to make the world a better place.

In October of 2013, Wyatt Vele’s life underwent a big change when he enrolled at Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Oregon. “My first day at Tongue Point [Job Corps] was a bit of a culture shock, but I told myself I just have to conquer the program,” Wyatt said. Little did he know that this day would set the stage for a remarkable journey leading to his current success and position as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy.

When Cassandra arrived at the Alaska Job Corps Center in 2019, she was looking for a way to make a stable income and set herself up for independence. Cassandra did not know she would soon end up as a leader in the Construction training program, a typically male-dominated industry. She never let being one of the only women in the shop stop her. Instead, she let it motivate her. Cassandra committed to working that much harder to prove her worth. She gave it her all, and it paid off.

After Michael was expelled from high school, his father stepped in and told him about Job Corps. He knew about the program firsthand, having graduated from Earle C. Clements Job Corps in the 1980s. So, on the advice of his father, Michael left Miami to start Culinary Arts training at his dad’s alma mater.

At Job Corps, students have the opportunity to change the direction of their lives by learning the skills to start a successful career. We'll make sure they have all the tools and resources they need to do just that.

Here’s what we mean:

Job Corps is free.
Job Corps’ training and education opportunities are available at no cost to all eligible students.

Job Corps is self-paced.
Job Corps is a self-paced program. Whether it takes eight months or two years to finish their program, we will work with our students every step of the way.

Job Corps students are provided with meals, basic health care and supplies.
Job Corps provides students three meals a day, basic medical care, clothes and supplies needed for their training. All students also receive a small stipend.

Job Corps students have an encouraging community to lean on.
From their fellow students to the instructors and staff members, Job Corps students are supported every step of the way as they get after their goals.
